Let Me Introduce Myself
Hi! I’m Angelina a full-time content creator and solo female traveller based in London, UK! I have been solo travelling for four years now, and love to slow travel to immerse myself in new cultures, experience new ways of life, and really just explore all the experiences a new destination has to offer. I created this blog to share what it’s like to travel as a solo female traveller and to hopefully inspire you and help plan you future travels!

Why did I start Olive and Travel?
When I was eighteen, I went on my first ever solo trip which was to Turkey and I remember taking a few photos to send to my family back home but other than that not capturing anything else from my trip. All the amazing people I met, places I visited, foods I tasted – I wish I had a virtual diary to remember all my amazing life experiences not just to remember but to relive them through the details and share those with the world. If I can help someone not make the same travel mistakes I made on my first trips or if I can inspire someone to visit a destination they had never dreamed of that is why I started Olive and Travel.
What made me choose the name Olive and Travel?
I love this question because it brings me back to one of my favourite trips I’ve ever been on. Summer of 2025 I embarcked on a two month long volunteering trip around the Southern West coast o Turkey and I stayed with a couple hosts where I assisted them with gardening, farm work etc. (read more about my volunteering in Turkey here) and throughout the villages there were these beautiful olive trees and plenty olive groves around. I fell in love with the look of the tree, the leaves, the shape, the colour of the olives and of course, eating the olives themselves (although there is much a process to go through to get to that point). Nevertheless, I became obsessed with olive trees (still am), and so the name Olive and Travel came along.
How can you afford to travel so much?
So many people are going to hate me for this answer but sometimes it really is just a matter of save – travel, save – travel, save – travel. There are plenty ways to make your travel budget friendly, including volunteering, working holidays etc. of which I have blog posts on – I recommend you read through to get some inspiration of what could work for you!

Do you feel safe travelling as a solo female traveller?
There is no yes or no answer to this question for me. There are so many different factors that go into this for me. There are certain countries I have been to where I have felt unsafe; however, I don’t think it is a fair reflection of the whole country and I wouldn’t want to discourage others from going. I have written a blog post on this where I go more into depth on different places I have visited and how safe I have felt, the cautions I take before / when travelling and tips if you are a solo female traveller!
